The Alpine-Carpathian River Corridor is a transnational pilot-project

Between Slovakia and Austria, cofinanced by the INTERREG V-A Slovakia-Austria. Knowledge Transfer, joint concepts and the implementation of best practice measures are the basis for successful cooperation.

Conservation and foster activities for selected rivers will be developed by experts from both countries. The implementation of restoration measures improves the habitat quality of rivers which will be monitored with flagship species like kingfisher or dice snake.

The project has a duration of 3 years. Together with 7 partner organisations the project will be implemented in the border region of austria and slovakia. Through involvement of municipalities, interested parties and education centers (schools, universities) rivers should be shown to be an important part of the cross-border landscape and raise awareness about their functions and heatlh.
